The Bangladesh edition of Intex South Asia, the most established trade platform in South Asian economies, will be held in a virtual format to offer direct opportunity for the domestic and international textiles suppliers to showcase their latest textile designs and product innovations.
In these challenging times and restrictions, as the world moves to a new normal scenario, the need of an hour is to move ahead and focus on participating in virtual shows to create a positive brand image of companies, promote the latest textile offerings, connect with potential buyers and build long term engagements with existing customers through this virtual medium.
I consider it a great pleasure to send this welcome message as a supporting industry partner of Intex South Asia Bangladesh 2021. We have had the privilege of associating and supporting Worldex India on a number of such occasions and congratulate them for this initiative of creating a virtual and safe platform for the industry as a whole.
Taking into consideration the fact that Bangladesh and India are respected as the most prominent garment manufacturing and exporting regions in the world, the efforts of Worldex India to bring together a virtual show are commendable.
We believe it is a great opportunity for both large scale and small scale entrepreneurs from both countries to connect once more with each other – strengthen old bonds, create new contacts and gain exposure to new trends and opportunities in respective areas of specialization. We strongly believe that exhibitions of this nature are a very important platform to keep the growth momentum moving forward in current times.
Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India have taken the initiative to form the ‘India Pavilion’ at Intex South Asia Business Matchmaking Week, Bangladesh being held between 22-25 March 2021. We are confident that this will cement ties, improve economic relationships and increase bilateral cooperation between India and Bangladesh. FICCI being the apex business chamber in India has always supported trade fairs such as Intex South Asia which have proved to be beneficial for the textile and garment industry. Since its launch in 2015, Intex South Asia in the last six editions has showcased 1000+ quality textile suppliers of Fibers, Yarns, Apparel & Denim Fabrics, Laces, Trims, Clothing Accessories, CAD-CAM, Software & ERP Solutions, Testing Equipments, etc. and have successfully connected them with more than 15000 trade buyers across the supply-chain & value-chain from the industry from Sri Lanka and other international markets. Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA)
I would like to congratulate Intex South Asia Bangladesh for arranging Virtual Business Matching Week scheduled to be held on 22 -25 March, 2021. It has come to my notice that this show will open the door for both the domestic and international textile suppliers to exhibit their cutting edge design and innovative products.
Amidst the unforeseen global worse situation triggered by Covid-19 pandemic started since the December, 2019, Bangladesh knitwear entrepreneurs have taken a bold steps to address the crisis. In the fiscal year 2019-20, Bangladesh knitwear sector exported a worth of US$ 13.91 billion, constituting for around 41% of the total national export.
It is true that in recent times, there has been occurring a paradigm shift in the apparel business in the context of embracing eco-friendly production mechanism, tightened social compliance issues, using robotics technologies, using online platform, using man-made fiber, etc. In this context, Bangladesh knitwear sector continues to adjust in line with the ever changing business model. Against this backdrop, Bangladesh RMG or Knitwear sector entrepreneurs are placing their focus on diversifying RMG product basket, producing high value end products along side with the existing basic products. In this regard, the Government of Bangladesh is encouraging diversification of RMG products and continuously supporting the sector as per with the global standard.
I strongly believe that this show also act as a catalyst for making interaction with different stakeholders in Bangladesh including RMG entrepreneurs, sourcing and buying offices, importers, brands & retailers etc.
I wish the Virtual Business Matching week in Bangladesh a grand success.
